A Tour of Oaxaca
THE OFFERING. CRAFT OF RECIPROCITY
Jan 14 - Jan 22, 2025
In the old cultures of Indigenous Mexico giving is a gift and reciprocity is the foundation of society.
In this spirit of reciprocity, we have created an immersive nine-day journey with the intention of connecting with the essence of this timeless wisdom.
Led by Eric, a small group of us will step into the elegant layers of what makes this land particularly special. By gathering the elements of a shared feast, from clay pots, handwoven baskets and firewood, to dried chilis, chocolate and local corn, we immerse ourselves in the living, subtle wisdom of indigenous Oaxaca.
Traversing the hum of Oaxaca City to the rooster choruses of Zapotec villages and the silence of ancient ruins, we will roll up our sleeves and create a humble ofrenda, an offering of effort and care presented in a joyful gathering. In so doing, we change the paradigm of a tour, moving from observer to participant, from receiver to one-who-shares.
And in this way, we will feel, with all our senses, the interconnectedness that arises with the gift of giving.
We hope you will join us!

The Last Incan Bridge and The Art of Village Ceremony
May 31-June 10, 2024
Once a year four Peruvian villages come together to build a bridge out of grass over the Apurimac gorge. It takes four days and connects their villages. So it has been for over a thousand years. This bridge, built in collaboration and ceremony among neighbors, is the last Incan bridge. We will be there to witness the making.
This 11-day tour is a journey to another Peru, one truly off the beaten track, beyond the guidebooks and cozy hotels. From straw bridge building to making offerings to the earth to a collective dance with flutes and llamas, this expedition takes us into the heartbeat of ancient, soulful community ceremonies. What does it feel like to gather with others to build, cook, or dance for the collective good? For rarefied moments we will immerse ourselves among people of community who’ve never forgotten such ways and feel the pull.
Come prepared to go deep and to be deeply moved.
