Eric spent the majority of his 20’s and 30’s fully immersed in the worlds of indigenous potters in southern Mexico. “Doing back porch work” as he says, slow and easy conversations with people who understand the world through more ancient rhythms. In the silent spaces between their words the potters showed Eric what life looks like in a place where the accumulated knowledge of the ancestors is actively heeded. What arises is a kind of deep functionality and wise equilibrium in the ways of making and doing. While ancient, rural and seated in clay, this wisdom is applicable to all of us, everywhere.
